Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, Kevin is Of Counsel at Starfield & Smith, P.C., representing lenders nationwide with a focus on the Midwest, and focusing his practice on SBA lending, commercial finance, and regulatory compliance. He brings two decades of experience advising financial institutions on complex SBA 7(a), 504, and USDA loan transactions, along with extensive experience directing legal and compliance operations for national lenders.

• Advised Executive and Credit Committees on legal risk, credit structuring, and regulatory eligibility

Kevin most recently served as General Counsel at a large nationwide SBA lender, where he oversaw legal due diligence, loan documentation, closing, servicing, and compliance supporting the platform’s growth from $30MM to $400MM in annual loan volume. Before that, he was General Counsel at another nationwide top-10 SBA lender, leading legal and compliance for its SBA lending and commercial lending subsidiaries. Earlier in his career, as a Director (Partner) at an Indianapolis-based law firm, Kevin served as closing counsel on more than $2 billion in SBA 7(a), 504, USDA, and conventional loan closings, and managed a substantial commercial foreclosure and creditors’ rights litigation portfolio for national commercial lenders.
