Firm News for March 2013: David Starfield and Ethan Smith Presenting at NAGGL’s 2013 SBA Lending Technical Conference

On April 29 and 30, Ethan will be teaching, “Closing and Funding the SBA Loan.” This two-day seminar is for those who prepare loan closing documentation and coordinate key people and events during loan closing. The following topics are on the agenda: • SBA Closing Forms and Requirements • Due Diligence and Checklist • Securing the Loan • Tracking the Loan Proceeds.

On April 29, David will be teaching the “Advanced SBA Loan Documentation and Closing” course. This session is designed to help lenders ensure that the documents they assemble comply with the SOPs, the SBA 7(a) Loan Authorization and commercially reasonable and prudent lending practices. Topics will include key loan closing issues; proper searches; third parties; loan modifications; and more.

Then on April 29, David will be teaching, “Understanding How to Get SBA to Honor Its Guaranty.” This one-day course will review key program provisions, define the concept of materiality, walk-through documentation requirements, illuminate common loan deficiencies that result in repairs and denials, and give a brief overview of the mandatory Care & Preservation of Collateral (CPC) Tabs. It will focus on the protection of the guaranty from the initial stages of the loan process through the completion of the 10-Tab purchase request package.
