WPASGL Annual Quality Circle Lender’s Conference

The Western PA Association of SBA-Guaranteed Lenders (WPASGL) invites all lenders and resource partners to return to the mountains for Quality Circle 2014. This year’s event will offer programs of interest to novice and experienced SBA lenders, as well as non-lending resource partners and service providers.


Quality Circle 2014 Conference Primer – This year’s conference will kickoff on Wednesday afternoon with a session including SBA Pittsburgh District Office representatives and experienced local SBA lenders who will provide a preview of the conference, review SBA terminology, de-mystify the SBA lending process, and share resources and contacts to help you get the most out of your Quality Circle conference experience.

Avoiding Lender Liability – Get insight on how you as a lender and your institution can avoid situations where good faith and fair dealing with clients can come into question and how to minimize the degree of control that you are having over your clients’ businesses, while still providing appropriate financial controls and covenants in your small business loans.

Tax and Financial Reporting Update – Do You Really Understand What You Need to Know? – An experienced CPA will discuss new streamlined accounting and financial reporting options now available for small businesses which have been endorsed by the accounting profession as well as the latest changes in taxation as relates to your small business borrowers.

The Competition for Your Borrower’s Cash – Global Cash Flow Analysis– The ability for lenders to truly understand how all competing demands on a borrower’s cash can be met is crucial to successful lending, and is now also a requirement for SBA lenders. An experienced underwriter will discuss proven methodologies for analyzing global cash flow.

Business Acquisitions & Valuations —Business valuation and acquisition experts will share their insights on how to analyze and underwrite business acquisition financing, methods of valuation, and SBA’s specific change of ownership requirements under SOP 50 10 5(F)

Alternative Financing Panel– This year’s Friday morning general session will include a timely panel discussion on non-traditional methods and sources of financing for small business including crowdfunding, 401k/IRA business funding, factoring, private equity, leasing and microlending.

Environmental Pitfalls in Commercial Real Estate & SBA Lending – An environmental assessment professional will discuss the environmental due diligence process for both conventional and SBA commercial real estate loans.

SBA’s New Loan Application Processes – SBA representatives will discuss how to apply thru SBA’s E-tran system for loans under $350k vs. over $350k and mandatory pre-screen credit scoring for smaller loans.
